FAQs for our agility class options

How do I decide which is the right agility class for me and my dog?
FAQs

What is the difference between fun agility and foundations agility?
Foundation agility doesn't use full equipment to begin with, we start you and your dog at ground level and gradually build the skill level up at a rate that suits you and your dog. Fun agility will only be using jumps and tunnels, there is no other agility equipment involved.

Who will be suitable for these classes?
The Foundation Agility classes are for those that really want to understand and progress their skills to eventually be able to use all the agility equipment, this is a longer term committment as training your dogs to use all the equipment safely is vital. The Fun Agility classes are for anyone that knows they will never want to compete in agility and just wants to have some fun with their dog each week, you can join the fun agility classes as many times as you like and can progress to the Fun Agility Plus.

What age can my dog join?
Dogs can join Foundations from 6 months old and Fun Agility from 12 months old. For younger dogs look at our online course Tricks for Agility

What if I join fun agility and decide I want to take it further?
You will then be able to join either the Fun Agility Plus or the Foundation Agility classes.

Can fun agility members become part of the Mojo Dogs Display Team?
Yes if your skills progress to a certain level.

Can I just book one class to see how we get on?
Sadly not, as you cannot tell anything from one session, you would need to give something like this a fair chance as the learning curve is very steep for you and your dog so you would need to join a course.

My dog is not very sociable can we attend the course?
This course will not be suitable for dogs that are not comfortable being in close proximity with other dogs.

My dog doesn’t have a recall, will this be a problem?
Some aspects of training can be done with a harness and a long line but you will not enjoy your class as much so we’d recommend working on your recall first to get the full benefit of the exercises with your dog.

I have two dogs can they both come?
We do not recommend bringing two dogs to one class, it is too much and can prove stressful to one dog while you're working with the other, so only one dog at a time please.

My partner and I want to do this with our dog, can we both attend?
Yes of course, but it is recommend that one person takes on the majority of the handling to ensure consistency for your dog.

I cannot attend all sessions in a block, what happens if I cannot attend a class?
If you are not able to attend a session you will sadly miss out but all students will have FREE access to our online Tricks for Agility course during the length of your course so if you cannot attend a class there are over thirty videos for you to watch and find something to do with your dog instead.
